Leah Sands (she/her) is a graphic designer and illustrator that sprung from the fine arts. Drawing since she could pick up a pencil and later developing a love for painting and screen printing, art has been a constant companion to her design practice. Leah’s passion lies in bridging the gap between fine arts and graphic design, applying the artistic nuances of form, content and color to the complexity of design — using grids, symbolism and client collaboration. She loves working on projects that ask deeper questions and aim to gently teach its viewer something about themselves or the world.
She has been running her own low-key business for 10 years working for a range of clients for a diverse set of projects. Projects include: t-shirts, album covers, book covers and illustrations, tattoos, wedding invites, portraits, logos, branding, web design, billboards and other print materials.
Leah is originally from Minneapolis, Minnesota but moved to Amsterdam, the Netherlands in 2016. Some of her favorite things include: cats (especially her own: Ponyo), all things Japanese, Art Niveau posters, French house/techno, dreadlocks and of course, her husband Joshua. Besides her art and design work, Leah runs an art project for teenagers in Amsterdam Zuidoost called Redefine Arts.
